Gone are the days of putting off trimming the hedges because of the hassle of extension cords being strung out for hundreds of feet, seemingly finding myself once again repairing an accidental cut through the cord, and the annoyance of the accidental unplugging.

I will happily admit that using this trimmer made the task fun! I felt free from the cuffs of the cord. The unit isn’t at all any heavier than my old corded one. The blades are razor sharp, heavy duty, and simply cut through what I feed it. Additionally, I found it very nice that both layers of blades reciprocate (rather than only one against a stationary set).

To my pleasant surprise, the 5Ah battery is no more heavier than the 20v series batteries that are 4Ah or 3 Ah.

I trimmed with this unit for an hour (cycling on and off of course) and when I was done I had a considerable amount of battery life remaining. I was so impressed!

If you have any doubt, doubt no more. This is one of this items that I am just so incredibly satisfied with. What an absolute perfect addition to my 20v line of DeWalt tools!!!
This is the first hedge trimmer I’ve ever bought and I’m glad I did.

We live in the inland Pac NW region. The blackberry bushes around here will absolutely take over if you don’t keep them in check. That was the main purpose for buying this trimmer. I chose the DeWalt because I have several of their cordless tools already and the batteries are compatible.

Right out of the package this thing was ready to go. Add charged battery, remove blade cover, annihilate blackberry bushes. It easily cut through the very tough runners, some over 3/4″ thick. Then it was just a matter of raking up the debris and throwing it on the burn pile.

This tool probably isn’t the lightest but it’s easily manageable. The blades are razor sharp and it’s long enough to reach some harder-to-get areas. I ran it for over 40 minutes and didn’t notice a decrease in the battery power. Not having an electrical cord gives me the freedom to carry this tool all over the 10 acre property.

The fit and finish of the tool is typically DeWalt…perfect. I started buying the DeWalt cordless stuff 3 or 4 years ago when I found a nice drill/driver on sale and I’m a total convert now. If it’s not yellow and black, I don’t really want it. Every piece of DeWalt equipment I’ve bought has performed flawlessly.

    Couldn’t be happier.
I just cleared an acre of brush that was taller than the eye can see on one single lithium ion battery. I didn’t even think that was possible. I want to attach it to my arm like Ashe from Evil Dead and become a brush-clearing machine. – PH’s husband

Lightweight yet incredibly effective. One of my new favorite tools. -PH
I bought this as bare tool to be able to use my 20v Max battery from my drill. It works fine and trims great. It also cuts more due to its long blade. The balance is good, but the only problem is that it becomes heavy if you are doing a lot of overhead work. I would say it would likely run about 20 minutes of full use before battery weakens. In non steady use of about 20 seconds trimming at a time then stop for 20 seconds to reposition then longer. Cuts up to 1/4″ branches easily if you let it saw a bit. Hedges and bushes no problem.
